Campus tē' shûrt'
Champaign, Illinois

When this longtime family business directly across from the University of Illinois campus needed to expand, there was no place to go but up. The program called for additional retail and storage space and an improved, eye-catching street presence.

The retail space was accomplished through the addition of a mezzanine, served by both an open stair and a handicap accessible lift, and a large storage area was constructed as a second floor to the rear of the building.

The façade was articulated to address both automobile and pedestrian traffic, and to stand out against its larger and more monumental neighbors. A sports team color palette was employed to reflect the nature of the merchandise.
